As we roll into our 10th Anniversary we've supercharged our annual minis painting contest to be the biggest it's ever been!

We've implemented some changes to this year's contest including new categories and more ways to win.  We will be looking for submissions and asking our community to weigh in with a full week of voting leading up to our winner announcements at the culmination of our Anniversary Weekend on August 10th

Here are the categories for this year's contest:

Technical Merit - Skill and technique are the main things being judged here

Creativity - Push the envelope and ramp up the originality to win this category

Favorite - Make people say “Dang! I love that”

We will be asking our community to vote for their top choice in each of these categories and instead of just 1 winner we will have 3 painters on the podium for each category!

That’s 9 winners overall. But wait…it’s the 10th Anniversary so….EVERYONE HAS A CHANCE TO WIN!

1 lucky painter will be chosen at random and receive a Warpaints Fanatic: Mega Paint Set ($180 value)  This brings our total winner count to 10!!!

The top 3 in each category will earn $25 in store credit towards anything they like.

Painters can submit up to 2 total models this year and will receive a raffle ticket for each model submitted. 

Submissions for the contest will be accepted at the store from Monday July 28th-Sunday August 3rd.  All models will be displayed and voting will run from August 3rd through August 9th with winners announced on the 10th. 

Come help us celebrate this epic anniversary by submitting your work or coming by to vote for your favorite models and partake in wide array of Anniversary events and specials.  More Anniversary details to come!

On May 25th The Portland Game Store, along with our incomparable X-Wing community, undertakes our annual mission to support Ukandu with a benefit tournament.  While X-Wing players compete in a friendly tournament you have the opportunity to be a huge help by supporting Ukandu Kids Camps.

The mission of Ukandu is to provide joy, hope, and connection to communities impacted by childhood and adolescent cancer. They recognize that cancer impacts the entire family and aim to provide parents and caregivers a respite from the physical, emotional and financial toll childhood cancer poses to families.

We’re thrilled to announce the return of our Dungeons & Dragons Summer Camps for 2025! Whether your child is brand new to D&D or a seasoned young adventurer, our camps are designed to spark imagination, build skills, and bring the game to life.

We’ve assembled a fantastic team of Dungeon Masters ready to teach the fundamentals to beginners and challenge experienced players with engaging adventures.

Camps are open to kids ages 8-15

Camp Details:

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 12:30 PM–4:30 PM
• Start Date: First session begins June 23
• Activities Include:
• Character creation
• Intro to game rules
• Full campaign playthrough
• Earning experience & character leveling

What’s Included:

Each camper receives:

• Player’s Handbook

• Miniature for their character
• Light snack daily (additional snacks/drinks available for purchase)

It’s almost time for our 9th Year Anniversary Weekend!  We work hard every year to come up with a variety of events and deals for this special weekend but the Painting Contest is the event where you all get to show off your amazing talent. We are looking forward to seeing all the new models that you've worked on over the last year and eager to show them off for everyone.

Painting Contest submissions will begin on Saturday August 3th and we will fill our case with all your amazing work.  We will have 3 different categories for submission: 

- Small Model: Submit a single model,  no more than 4 inches tall

- Large Model: Any single model 4 inches or taller

- Squad: A group of models (3 or more) with similar theming

• Painters can submit 1 entry per category for a chance to win in each
• Everything will be on display once submitted
• Voting will start on August 10th and go through August 17th 
• Winners will be announced on August 18th
• The winner for each category earns $50 in store credit and $50 worth of paint

Spring has sprung and it’s time for spring cleaning at The Portland Game Store!

We’ve got a great pile of used games to look through.  We’ve gone through the game library and picked some games that have been well loved and are looking for new homes as well as some items that may have taken an unlucky hit and gotten a little beat up.  We've also got deals on new and used tablemats and playmats It's a great chance to pick up some classic games at rock bottom prices. 

You will also find select, new games up to 35% off!  Maybe you’ve been waiting for the right time on a particular game. Now might be that time! 

In addition to all the games there will be a wide selection of Pokemon products for sale.  If you have been trying to “catch them all”  this is the weekend to take advantage of the best prices ever on a wide variety of packs, decks, box sets and more!
